Our Top 10 Moments of 2023
Happy New Year!
Wow! What an incredible year 2023 has been for Fritz Tiny Homes! We have been reflecting on all the special moments of the year and we are just absolutely blown away by everything we have experienced and how much we have grown. We are overwhelmed with gratitude.
We thought it would be fun to share with you the Top 10 highlights of the year!
1. Halcyon 01 featured in Dwell Magazine
The Halcyon 01 was featured in Dwell Magazine. We loved seeing one of our builds being honoured for its design and architecture alongside such inspiring and great designs from around the world. We’re so humbled by the continued attention and interest of Dwell in our designs and builds.
2. Halcyon 2 Released and Delivered to Montana!
We took our families with us on an incredible adventure to install the first Halcyon 2 onto our client’s land in beautiful Montana. The Halcyon 2 is our largest tiny home model yet and we designed this for clients who need a little more room - maybe a home office or a gym - to have the space they need to truly live tiny. This tiny home will be a vacation rental property, nestled into the mountains. It was so special for us as business owners to share this moment with our kids and turn it into a family holiday. We worked hard and played hard.
3. Gus!
Obviously getting Gus, our Bernese mix, has been a highlight of the year. Gus completes our family perfectly, and is a breed I have wanted for a long time. Last year we lost some long standing furry family members and Gus joined us right when we needed him the most. Joy and sorrow together, but mostly joy for this big happy goofy pup.
4. Install and Family Trip to Maine!
We installed a tiny home in the farthest location yet! Southwest Harbour in Maine. This trip was such a gift. We turned it into a family holiday right where I (Heather) grew up spending my summers in Maine. We visited with extended family and I got to show the kids the places that were precious to me when I was a kid. It was an unforgettable trip of investing in family near and far.
5. Recording Shawn Doyle’s Podcast
We were privileged to be featured on Shawn’s podcast where we had a super vulnerable conversation about how Fritz Tiny Homes started and the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. We didn’t want to shy away from sharing the hard, real challenges of launching a business. God knows, it’s not all shiny and polished. Being an entrepreneur is gritty and wild and we have had to learn how to truly work together and be a team. I am very proud of how we’ve grown both the business and our relationship and I hope you find this podcast encouraging and that it helps our clients to get to know us more.
6. Tiny Home Show in Ancaster, ON
We had a great time at Canada’s biggest tiny home show! We delivered a tiny home to our amazing client, Kim, and then she graciously opened the doors of her brand new home to guests attending the show. It was a really special time of deepening our relationships with other builders in the industry, speaking to attendees and helping to pour back into the tiny home movement, sharing knowledge and representing the tiny home world.
7. Football
Kev grew up playing football and to say he’s passionate about it is an understatement. Of course, you never want to force your passions on your kids, but our boys have grown up with football deeply embedded into our family culture and it turns out…they love it too! Kevin has always known that he wanted to give back to football and coach, hoping to inspire others the way he was inspired by the sport. He’s coaching not one, but all 3 boys teams! It is such a joy to see Kin, Hudson, and Levon discovering their passion and skill at this sport, and to see Kev grow as a coach and discover football in an entirely new way! Kin’s team even made it to the provincial championship game this season. So much excitement around here. (Not to leave Jilli out! We are also super proud of Jilli’s new love for cross country running.)
8. Halcyon Lux released
This year we launched 3 new models! The Halcyon Lux is our most luxury focused tiny home model and it is such a stunner. There is nothing basic about this tiny home, every detail has been designed to make for high end living in a tiny space. We are so proud of this model. Check out more about Halcyon Lux here.
9. Halcyon Stay Released
Three models in one year! Madness! The Halcyon Stay is another new model we released. This model was designed in response to the market and listening to the needs of our clients. For people looking for a place with shorter term stays such as summer homes and vacation rental properties, the Halcyon Stay is made for comfort, and the amenities needed for vacation such as suitcase storage, less space taken up by large appliances, and enormous windows for taking in the views.
10. Our Growing Team
The absolute best part of 2023 has been expanding our team. People are our greatest assets and we are grateful every day to work with such a special group of committed and talented employees. We had 19 people come to our Christmas party this year. This blows my mind! We have expanded our facility, nearly doubling in size as we look to the new year and our ability to offer more homes to more incredible clients.
